Regular Shows

The Restless Gun (Sept. 1957 - Jun. 1959, 78 episodes)

A radio program called The Six Shooter starred James Stewart as "Britt Ponset," a rover famed for his gun-handling abilities; but nevertheless, Ponset is a peaceful, honest man who does all he can to avoid using his gun. (Which, of course, he ends up having to use every episode.)
In 1957, The Six Shooter became a televison series starring John Payne as the main character, whose name was changed to "Vint Bonner," and the show's name was changed to The Restless Gun. Many of the episodes are taken from the radio show, although the radio show only ran 40-some episodes and the TV show ran for 78.
The pilot episode ran on the Schlitz Playhouse as "The Restless Gun."
