Roy Rogers Movie poem

The sun slips over the horizon
  Leaving a dusky bliss
The sight is worthy to lay your eyes on
Surely something you don't want to miss.
And, as the sun goes down
  It leaves behind it
A sense of peace in the town
  A campfire burning bright,
  Illuminates the camp
And their faces with its light.
  A song they do play,
  And laughter so gay,
  Fills the shadowy night.
They are satisfied, and as for me?
I sorta wish life could be,
Just like this Roy Rogers movie.

I want to see The Lights of Old Santa Fe
And to dream Under California Stars
I want to live in the Days of Jesse James
And hear The Sons of the Pioneers sing
To the music of their guitars.

Utah is grand, and Colorado is, too
  And Idaho, and Southward Ho
For in them you always know,
That The King of the Cowboys will come through.

Regular Shows:

Mister Ed (Jan. 1961 - Feb. 1966, 143 episodes)

Mister Ed is a series about a talking horse . . . and the only man who knows he talks. The misadventures begin when Wilbur Post (Alan Young) and his wife, Carol (Connie Haines) move to a new home and find a horse in residence. As it just so happens, the horse can talk like a human. But he'll only talk face-to-face with Wilbur, which leads to many problems as others overhear him. And of course, they don't believe Wilbur when he tells them Mister Ed can talk.
For a man like Wilbur Post, who already has an established reputation as a clumsy, good-natured fellow, this throws a wrench in his romantic, social, and business relationships.
Mister Ed was played by a horse named Bamboo Harvester, and voiced by Allan "Rocky" Lane.
Others in the cast include Larry Keating (1961 - 1963), Kay Skinner (1961 - 1964), Leon Ames (1963 - 1965), and Barry Kelley.

Cowboy David

Cowboy David

David was a fighting man,
But he grew up tending sheep
And long into the night you could his harp,
As he played those critters to sleep.
He was a handsome young fella
Full of God's strength, and grit
He killed a lion and a bear that was after his sheep
Out there in the wide, wide wilderness.

When trouble arrived in Israel
When the Philistines came
The king had to look high and low
Tryin' to find a man that was brave.
Cause someone had to fight Goliath
And no one wanted to be killed!
But David knew that with God's strength
He could do what God and the king willed.

So David killed that towerin' giant
And skeered off the rest of his band.
A couple little stones and a leather strap
Was all that he held in his hand.
But he used a Power mightier than those
A-built out of metal or wood
He called on God's name to help him
Like, I guess, we all should.

As time rolled by, David became Israel's king
And although he sometimes did wrong
God said that David was a man
Who followed after His own heart, all along.
Even when David did things
That God hated for him to do,
God stuck with him through it all
Just like He'll do for me and you.

Now, altho' David was a sheep-man
And tho' you might think it strange—
I kinda think he was a cowboy, deep down
A cowboy formed by the open range.

Regular Shows:

Lucky U Ranch

From November, 1951 to February, 1953, the Sons of the Pioneers had their own radio show, and for a shorter period of time they had their own television show as well; both ran five days a week.
Little is known about the lost television episodes, but the radio shows are still available, and the TV show apparently ran along the same lines as the radio program. Betty Taylor, and Frankie Messina joined the Pioneers. The Pioneers at this time consisted of Lloyd Perryman, Tommy Doss, Ken Curtis, Hugh Farr, Karl Farr, and Shug Fisher.
Shug, who is in charge of the chuck wagon, affects a stutter and is the ranch comedian. He even sometimes gets to solo on songs like "Too Old to Cut the Mustard," and "Crambone," but the boys aren't too fond of Shug's singing, so most the time, he sticks to stuttering and playing his bass fiddle.
The Lucky U Ranch maintained a unique balance of fact and fiction, and listener participation was encouraged. Every day on the radio show, an acre of land was given away to a "good deed doer" someone had written in about, and every show, near the end, Hugh reads an inspirational thought aloud.

Ozark Jubilee (Jan. 1955 - Sept. 1960, 297 episodes)

Ozark Jubilee was a country music variety show hosted by Red Foley, and also known as Jubilee USA and Country Music Jubilee. Many artists appeared regularly on the show, including Webb Pierce, Wanda Jackson, Brenda Lee, Lennie Aleshire, Smiley Burnette, Shug Fisher (seven episodes), Carl Smith, and many, many more.
Guest stars like Rex Allen, the Carter Sisters, Faron Young, and Jimmy Wakely appeared on the Ozark Jubilee. It was tough competition for the Grand Ole Opry.

Ripcord (Jun. 1961 - Sept. 1963, 76 episodes)

Larry Pennell and Ken Curtis star in Ripcord as Ted McKeever and Jim Buckley, two men involved in the exciting sport of skydiving. Using their knowledge to help people, they frequently make rescue-jumps to save someone who cannot be reached by any other means. For season one, Paul Comi played the pilot of their private Cessna airplane; he was replaced in season two by Shug Fisher.
The show was fairly popular, and today many people remember watching real skydiving footage with a story woven around it as children.

* Shug played bass fiddle, and was the comedian for, the Sons of the Pioneers at various times in his career. The films in which he appeared with the Pioneers are in blue font.
