Jock Mahoney's Birthday ~ An Interview With Judy Pastorius
Jock Mahoney, one of Hollywood's most impressive stuntmen, was born Jacques Joseph O'Mahoney in Chicago, IL. He was The Range Rider (1951-53), and later Yancy Derringer (1958-59), on television, and Tarzan in two feature films.
Judy Pastorius runs the Jock O'Mahoney Friends Group on Facebook, but her interest in Jock began over sixty years ago. In the 1950s, she became president of his fan club and developed a friendship with him that lasted the rest of his life. But she can tell you about that in her own words. . . .

Regular Shows:
The Range Rider (December 1950 - June 1953, 78 episodes)
Starring Jock Mahoney as the otherwise nameless Range Rider, with Dick Jones as "Dick West," his young sidekick, The Range Rider was a children's Western series produced by Gene Autry's "Flying A Productions."
What sets this show apart from the other kiddie Westerns of its day are the stunts; Mahoney and Jones were both outstanding athletic stuntmen. They filled the shows with enough fights, flips, and gags, to make up for the abundance of stock footage in the programs, and delight viewers of all ages.
Range Rider on DVD:
Volumes 1 - 5 from Alpha Home Video (20 episodes)
Yancy Derringer (October 1958 - June 1959, 34 episodes)
Despite being short lived, Yancy Derringer was popular with its audience and cast members alike. Jock Mahoney again plays the title character -- a refined New Orleans gentleman who carries a derringer in his pocket or hat, and a sword in his cane.
X Brands plays his mute Indian compainion, Pahoo Ka Ta Wah, and Francis Bergen plays his most regular love interest -- most regular -- he had no lack of female friends. Yancy is a secret agent working for the Federal City Administrator, John Colton, which basically makes him a troubleshooter for the whole city of New Orleans.
