Pamela Blake, originally billed under her real name of Adele Pearce, was born in Oakland, California, in 1915.
Her aunt and uncle raised her after her mother died when she was three years old. Her dream of being an actress came true in 1934 when she won a beauty contest and got a part in a movie. In 1935, an automobile accident left her face and neck horribly scarred, and her career would have been finished right then if it weren't for the help of plastic surgery. She went on to play opposite such Western greats as Tex Ritter, Clayton Moore, and John Wayne, before retiring from the business in 1954.
