Harry Lauter's Birthday

Harry Lauter
June 19, 1914 - October 30, 1990

Harry Lauter played hero and villain and everything in between—often the victim of a crime—in hundreds of television shows in the 1950s and 60s, before his career slowly faded out in the 70s. He was born in White Plains, NY, on June 19, 1914, to a show business family. They moved from New York, to Colorado, to California; his mother died when he was only four.

He starred with Willard Parker in a TV series, Tales of the Texas Rangers, from 1955 - 1958, and he guest starred on programs such as The Roy Rogers Show, The Range Rider, Death Valley Days, Laramie, and Gunsmoke.

He was married three times, and served in military during World War II. Many of his co-stars remember him as a genuinely nice man who wasn't afraid to go out of his way to help someone.

A talented artist, Lauter painted some beautiful oil landscapes (see a couple of them here). He passed away on October 30, 1990.
