Buffalo Bill, Jr. (Mar. 1955 - Sept. 1956, 42 episodes)

Buffalo Bill Jr. is a great kid's western for two reasons: first, the great chemistry between the main characters---Judge Ben "Fair 'n Square" Wiley (Harry Cheshire), and his adopted children, Calamity (Nancy Gilbert), and Buffalo Bill Jr. (Dick Jones); and second, Dick Jones's famous stunts and athletic riding.
According to Dick Jones*, Buffalo Bill Jr.'s sponser, Mars Candy, wanted to renew the show's contract for another season, but the network wanted 25% (of the profits? of the show itself? Jones is unclear) and producer Gene Autry, ever the businessman, refused and the show went under.

Notes:
(Nancy Gilbert) left the entertainment industry in the late 1950s and entered the convent of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Dubuque, IA, and became a nun. In 1962 she became a teacher. In 1986 she left the religious life, married and moved to Sierra Vista, AZ, where she became a teacher in the local public school. In 1997 she was selected as the Arizona Biology Teacher of the Year.  (IMDb)
Here on Western Clippings, there is a photo of Nancy with Buffalo Bill Jr. costar Dick Jones, taken in 2001.
